Making the right Choice

Top Qualities to Look For in a Commercial Cleaning Company

Hiring a reputable cleaning company to keep your property clean your clients is among the most important decisions you’ll make. Here are the top qualities your commercial cleaning company must have.

Insurance and Bonding

One of the first questions you should ask a commercial cleaning company is if they have insurance. If their answer is no, walk away. You do not want the responsibility if one of there workers gets hurt on the job. They must be bonded and insured to protect you from paying for those accidents out of pocket. When a cleaning company is bonded, that means that you are protected if something goes wrong. If items are missing or damaged, the bond provider pays for damages and reimbursements, which means both your facility and the cleaning company are both protected.

Also your property has valuable items; computers, printers, televisions, and more. Unfortunately, theft can also sometimes become an issue when hiring a cleaning service—even if the agency conducts thorough background checks on all their employees. If your commercial cleaning company should happen to have an unethical employee who steals, you’ll be reimbursed fully for the missing items.

Reputation

Always ask and check their referrals. There are many places to find more information about the cleaning company you are thinking about using for your property. Yelp is a good tool to find unfiltered reviews of a company, and Google reviews are also helpful. Going to the Better Business Bureau is always a good idea. If a company has had complaints filed against them, you want to know.

Employee Status

You want to ask if they outsource the work or they have employees. Outsourced workers are not usually covered on their insurance agreement. You also want to ensure that they have gone through a background check as well as have the proper paperwork to work in your area.

Free Estimates and Proposals

Always meet with your prospective cleaning company to discuss your needs and walk the property so the cleaning company understands the scope of work. Finally, the company should provide a free estimate and proposal that they believe will be best for your business. If any part of this doesn’t work for you, communicate this with them & they should be able to make the necessary adjustments to fit your needs and budget. This should be a partnership between you and the commercial cleaning company.

Equipment

When a commercial cleaning company comes to do the building walk-through, talk to them about the different tools and equipment they use to clean commercial buildings. Some questions to consider when evaluating a cleaning company are:

  • Do they have a color-coded microfiber cloth system to prevent cross-contamination between different areas of your building? If not, they may be using the same cleaning cloths and equipment to clean your employee break rooms and restroom.

  • Do they use the backpack vacuums with HEPA filters or do they use normal push vacuums? If not, they may be decreasing the air quality in your building and contributing to the spread of germs.

  • What kind of cleaning products do they use. Are the eco-friendly if they need to be. If not, they may be introducing harmful chemicals into your workspace.

  • Are they using commercial grade products or do they use Fabuloso for everything.

This is a partnership between you & the cleaning company. You should have the same goals; to have the cleanest and healthiest environment possible property. It is very important to ask the necessary questions to determine if the company is capable of achieving that goal.
